Solution

Find HCF of 12 and 18:

HCF(12,18)=6\text{HCF}(12,18)=6

Divide numerator and denominator by 6:

1218=23\frac{12}{18}=\frac{2}{3}

Answer

23\frac{2}{3}

Question 3

Check whether:

24\frac{2}{4} and 36\frac{3}{6} are equivalent.

Solution

Simplify both fractions:

24=12\frac{2}{4}=\frac{1}{2}

36=12\frac{3}{6}=\frac{1}{2}

Since both are equal:

Answer

24=36\frac{2}{4}=\frac{3}{6}

They are equivalent fractions.
