The completion period of the project will be five years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Besides travelling people, industries in and around Miraj-Londa section will have additional transport capacity to meet their requirements. Doubling of this line will greatly ease the ever increasing freight traffic between Pune-Miraj-Londa section thereby increasing the revenue of Railways.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00\"><strong>Background:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Miraj is a junction station on Londa to Mumbai double line route via Sangli, Karad, Satara. The Pune-Miraj section is non-electrified single line on diesel traction and it is oversaturated. The additional traffic running over and above 100% of utilization is proposed to be diverted on the proposed doubling. The doubling of the section would come as an advantage as it would strengthen the rail network necessary to operate more passenger trains with increased speed and better efficiency. Doubling between Bangalore-Hubli and Hospet-Vasco-da-gama is already in progress. Once these works are completed, there will be tremendous increase in traffic over the Miraj-Londa section. Therefore, doubling between Pune-Miraj-Londa is required.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Source : PIB<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the current update on the <strong>doubling of the Pune\u2013Miraj\u2013Londa railway line<\/strong>\u2014a significant infrastructure modernization project in Western India.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Overview: Project Status &amp; Impact<\/h3>\n<h4>Official Sanction &amp; Scope<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs<\/strong> approved the doubling of the <strong>Pune\u2013Miraj\u2013Londa line<\/strong>, a 467 km stretch, at an estimated cost of <strong>\u20b93,627.47 crore<\/strong>, which is expected to rise to <strong>\u20b94,246.84 crore<\/strong> with an annual escalation of 5%. The project timeline was set at <strong>five years<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Progress Updates (Central Railway)<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>As of <strong>October 2023<\/strong>, Central Railway completed <strong>174.85 km<\/strong> (about <strong>62.6%<\/strong>) of the multi-tracking (doubling and third\/fourth line expansions) across the <strong>279.05 km Pune\u2013Miraj section<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Sections already doubled include Pune\u2013Shindawane, Ambale\u2013Adarki, Palsi\u2013Jarandeshwar, Satara\u2013Koregaon, and Sangli\u2013Shenoli.<\/li>\n<li>Key stretches nearing completion include Palshi\u2013Adarki, Satara\u2013Jarandeshwar, Shenoli\u2013Targaon, and Sangli\u2013Miraj, together comprising <strong>73.7 km<\/strong> (~26.4%) planned for completion within the fiscal year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Completed Segment: Pune to Miraj<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Sangli\u2013Miraj segment<\/strong> was finalized, enabling trains to operate on the dual track at speeds of up to <strong>117 km\/h<\/strong>, following approval from the Commissioner of Railway Safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Track Configuration<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Pune\u2013Miraj\u2013Londa line<\/strong> spans <strong>468 km<\/strong>.
