Sub: Fare structure of AC EMU\/DEMU\/MEMU rakes\/coaches.<\/strong>
\nRef: Commercial Circular no. 27 of 2025 dated 30.05.2025.<\/p>\n

In contained of instructions contained in Commercial Circular No. 27 of 2025 dated 30.05.2025, Ministry of Railways have now decided that fare of AC cum non AC coaches\/rakes shall be kept at par with that of AC EMU\/DEMU\/MEMU services. i.e. 1.3 times of base fare of single journey tickets of first class.<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. Same terms and conditions as notified for AC EMU\/MEMU\/DEMU trains shall also be applicable in the above case.<\/p>\n

3. CRIS is requested to make necessary changes in the software.<\/p>\n

4. The receipt of this letter may be acknowledged. Also please check these instructions on the Indian Railways website \u2013 www.indianrailway.gov.in under the head commercial circulars.<\/p>\n

5. This disposes off the references of WR & SR dated 31.07.2025 & 29.05.2025 Railways.<\/p>\n

Here’s the official fare structure for AC EMU, DEMU & MEMU rakes\/coaches<\/strong>, and updates on recent fare changes as of mid\u20112025:<\/p>\n

\ud83d\ude89 1. Fare Structure: AC EMU \/ DEMU \/ MEMU Coaches<\/h2>\n

According to Railway Board\u2019s Commercial Circular No.\u202f55 of 2025<\/strong> (effective November 6, 2025):<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Fares for AC EMU, AC DEMU, and AC MEMU rakes<\/strong> are set at 1.3 times the base fare of First Class Single Journey tickets<\/strong> in suburban services.<\/li>\n
  • All conditions and concessions applicable to EMU\/MEMU\/DEMU services (e.g. tickets, season passes) apply to these AC versions as well.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    In practice<\/strong>, if First Class single\u2011journey fare in suburban rail is \u20b910, then AC EMU fare = \u20b913 for the same distance. (Example from Kolkata local: \u20b929 base for first 10\u202fkm \u2192 AC EMU starts at \u20b929; incremental as per slabs.)<\/p>\n

    \ud83d\udcb5 2. DEMU & MEMU Fare Updates (2024\u201325)<\/h2>\n
      \n
    • After passenger complaints, Express\u2011Special fares were reverted<\/strong> back to the pre\u2011COVID\u201119 \u201cSecond Class Ordinary\u201d fare structure in most zones, reducing previous fare surcharges by ~50%.<\/li>\n
    • On key routes (Chennai\u2013Tirupati; Chennai Beach\u2013Vellore; Chennai Egmore\u2013Puducherry), tickets dropped from \u20b965\u2013\u20b980 down to \u20b935\u2013\u20b945.<\/li>\n
    • In Pune zone and elsewhere, common DEMU\/MEMU fares restored to ordinary second\u2011class levels<\/strong> by July 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
