{"id":6896,"date":"2025-08-03T08:50:36","date_gmt":"2025-08-03T08:50:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/railtravels.org\/?p=6896"},"modified":"2025-08-03T08:50:36","modified_gmt":"2025-08-03T08:50:36","slug":"irctc-latest-guidelines-on-cancellation-of-ticket-and-refund-of-fare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.reilsolar.com\/train\/irctc-latest-guidelines-on-cancellation-of-ticket-and-refund-of-fare\/","title":{"rendered":"IRCTC Latest Guidelines on Cancellation of Ticket and Refund of Fare"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><strong>IRCTC Latest Guidelines on Cancellation of Ticket and Refund of Fare<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>IRCTC Revised Guidelines on Cancellation of Tickets and Refund of Fare, due to Covid 19 situation SCR Order (PR.No.85) issued on 14-05-2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As per the Railway Board instructions, revised guidelines issued on cancellation of tickets and refund of fare, due to COVID-19 situation<\/p>\n<p>I.<b> Relaxation in Refund Rules for already booked Passenger Resevation system (PRS) Counter Tickets and E-Tickets for journeys starting from 21st March 2025 up to resumption of Passenger services or till further orders.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Also Read: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reilsolar.com\/train\/irctc-grant-full-refund-of-tickets-booked-for-journeys-scheduled-between-1st-july-to-12-aug\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>IRCTC Grant Full Refund of Tickets Booked for Journeys Scheduled Between 01-07-2025 to 12-08-2025<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>1. <strong>Trains Cancelled by Railways:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Passenger Reservation system (PRS) Counter Ticket:<\/strong> Refund across counter can be claimed on submission of Ticket up to <strong>six months<\/strong> from date of journey (instead of earlier rule of 3 days excluding day of journey).<\/p>\n<p><strong>E \u2013 Ticket:<\/strong> Auto Refund.<\/p>\n<p>2.<strong> Trains Not Cancelled. Passenger does not want to perform Journey:<\/strong> As a special case, full refund will be given for already booked reserved tickets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PRS Counter Ticket<\/strong>: Passengers can file Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR) within six months from the date of journey at the station and submit the detailed TDR within in next 60 days to Chief Claims Officer or Chief Commercial Manager. Refund of concerned Zonal railway for getting the refund amount, subject to verification.<\/p>\n<p><strong>E \u2013 Ticket:<\/strong> Online Cancellation and refund facility is available<\/p>\n<p>Passengers can also cancel PRS counter ticket through 139 Railway enquiry number or through the website of IRCTC and can get refund across the counter within the six months from the date of journey.<\/p>\n<p>II. <strong>Full Refund of deducted cancellation amount on already cancelled booked reserved tickets for journey period starting from 21st March. 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>PRS Counter Ticket:<\/strong> Passengers who have already cancelled their tickets for the said journey period can apply through post in a prescribed Performa for refund of balance amount of cancellation charge to the office of Chief claims Officer or Chief Commercial Manager\/ Refund of concerned Zonal Railway Headquarters Passengers must claim the refund by sending it through post within six months of scheduled date of journey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>E \u2013 Ticket:<\/strong> Refund of deducted amount of cancellation charges will be credited to the account of the passengers from which ticket was booked.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the <strong>most up\u2011to\u2011date IRCTC and Indian Railways guidelines on ticket cancellations and fare refunds<\/strong>, as applicable in <strong>August 2025<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>\ud83c\udf9f\ufe0f Confirmed Tickets (e\u2011tickets &amp; counters)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>More than 48\u202fhours before scheduled departure<\/strong>: Flat cancellation charges per passenger:\n<ul>\n<li>\u20b9\u202f240\u202f+\u202fGST: AC First Class \/ Executive<\/li>\n<li>\u20b9\u202f200\u202f+\u202fGST: AC 2\u2011Tier \/ First Class<\/li>\n<li>\u20b9\u202f180\u202f+\u202fGST: AC 3\u2011Tier \/ AC Chair Car \/ AC 3 Economy<\/li>\n<li>\u20b9\u202f120: Sleeper Class<\/li>\n<li>\u20b9\u202f60: Second Class<\/li>\n<li><strong>Between 48 and 12\u202fhours before departure<\/strong>: 25% of fare subject to minimum flat rate above<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Between 12 and 4\u202fhours before departure<\/strong> (chart not yet prepared): 50% of fare subject to minimum flat rate<\/li>\n<li><strong>Within 4\u202fhours of departure<\/strong>, or after charting: No automatic refund unless you file a <strong>TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt)<\/strong> online. Without it, no refund<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>\ud83e\uddf3 RAC \/ Waitlisted Tickets<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Up to 30\u202fminutes before departure<\/strong>: Cancellation allowed; refund after deducting clerkage\/cancellation charge per passenger:\n<ul>\n<li>\u20b9\u202f20\u202f+\u202fGST in many rules<\/li>\n<li>Some sources cite \u20b9\u202f60\u202f+\u202fGST depending on class and seat type<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>If still waitlisted after charting<\/strong>: Ticket is automatically cancelled; full fare refunded (no deduction)<\/li>\n<li><strong>After 30\u202fminutes before departure<\/strong>: No refund unless TDR filed within deadlines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>\ud83d\ude86 Tatkal \/ Premium Tatkal Tickets<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Confirmed Tatkal \/ Premium Tatkal<\/strong>: No refund under any circumstances<\/li>\n<li><strong>Waitlisted Tatkal tickets<\/strong>: Automatically cancelled after charting;
