Chief Commercial Managers,<br \/>\nAll Zonal Railways<\/p>\n<p>Sub:<strong>\u00a0Issuance of circular journey ticket (CJT) in First AC in Rajdhani and Duronto and EC class in Shatabdi.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ref: Rule no. 205 of IRCA Coaching Tariff No. 26 Part 1 (Volume I).<\/p>\n<p>Para 4 Rule 205 of IRCA Coaching Tariff. 26 Part 1 (Volume I) states that \u201cIf a passenger travels in Higher class or by higher category of train, he will be required to pay the difference of fares for such distance on point to point basis\u201d. Ministry of Railways have decided that Circular Journey Ticket (CJT) shall now also be permitted in First AC of Rajdhani and Duronto and EC class of Shatabdi trains by paying difference of fare for distance traveled on point to point basis.<\/p>\n<p>2. However, CJT shall not be admissible in other flexi fare applicable classes of such trains and other trains in which variable fare is applicable.<\/p>\n<p>3. Circular Journey Tickets (CJT) \u2013 Key Features<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Purpose<\/strong>: CJT allows travel on a looped itinerary (starting and ending at the same station) with up to 8 break-journeys.<br \/>\nReservations for each leg must be booked separately.<br \/>\nGST is applicable at <strong>5%<\/strong> on total fare.<br \/>\n\ue202cite\ue202turn0search3\ue202turn0search11\ue201<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fare Calculation<\/strong>: Based on telescopic fare rules:\n<ul>\n<li>Compute total shortest\u2011route distance.<\/li>\n<li>Calculate fare for half that distance.<\/li>\n<li>Multiply by 2.<\/li>\n<li>If any segment exceeds 15% deviation from the shortest route, full point\u2011to\u2011point fare applies.<br \/>\n\ue202cite\ue202turn0search3\ue201<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>\ud83d\ude82 2. New Admission for Premium Classes (Circular Journey \u2013 2025 Rule)<\/h2>\n<p>As per <strong>Railway Board Circular No.\u202f41\/2025 (dated 27\u2011Aug\u20112025)<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>CJTs are now permitted<\/strong> in:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>First AC (1A)<\/strong> coaches on <strong>Rajdhani &amp; Traveler Notes<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Not valid<\/strong> for classes under <strong>flexi\u2011fare system<\/strong>\u2014these include 2A, 3A, CC, etc., where dynamic pricing applies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reservation charges and GST<\/strong> still apply as normal.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Waiting list<\/strong> passengers are no longer allowed in AC\/Sleeper coaches from May 2025 per new rules \u2014 not directly CJT\u2011related but part of passenger policy changes.<br \/>\n\ue202cite\ue202turn0search6\ue201<\/li>\n<li><strong>Food charges (catering)<\/strong>: Complimentary meals in premium trains only apply if you select catering at booking;
