{"id":6034,"date":"2025-08-04T11:59:35","date_gmt":"2025-08-04T11:59:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/railtravels.org\/?p=6034"},"modified":"2025-08-04T11:59:35","modified_gmt":"2025-08-04T11:59:35","slug":"tamilnadu-railway-projects-current-status-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.reilsolar.com\/train\/tamilnadu-railway-projects-current-status-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Tamilnadu Railway Projects Current Status"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><strong>New Railway Line Projects In Tamilnadu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tamilnadu Railway Projects Current Status<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>New Line Projects, Doubling and Electrification Projects in Tamilnadu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>DOUBLING\/ ELECTRIFICATION\/ NEW RAIL LINE PROJECTS IN TAMIL NADU<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Railways has taken up a number of projects for infrastructure development in Tamilnadu duly allotting substantial budget.<\/p>\n<p>Average Budget Allocation for Infrastructure projects and safety works, falling fully\/partly in State of Tamil Nadu, for 2014-19 is rupees 1,979 crore, which is 225% of the average annual Budget outlay of 2009-14 (rupees 879 crore).<\/p>\n<p>Allocation of Budget for infrastructure projects and safety works falling fully\/partly in State of Tamil Nadu, for 2019-2020 is rupees 2,410 crore, which is 274% of the average annual Budget outlay of 2009-14 (rupees 879 crore).<\/p>\n<p>Presently, 09 New Line Projects covering a length of 871 Km at a cost of rupees 11,612 crore, 08 Doubling Projects covering a length of 592 Km at a cost of rupees 5,673 crore and 10 Railway Electrification projects covering route Km of 1633 route Km at a cost of rupees 1570 crore, falling fully\/partly in the State of Tamil Nadu are under different stages of planning\/sanction\/execution. The aggregate cost of these 27 projects is rupees 18, 855 crore.<\/p>\n<p>The timely completion of any Railway project depends on various factors like quick land acquisition by State Government, forest clearance by officials of forest department, shifting of infringing utilities (both underground and over ground), statutory clearances from various authorities, geological and topographical conditions of area, law and order situation in the area of project site, number of working months in a year for particular project site due to climatic conditions, encountering unforeseen conditions like earthquake, flooding, excessive rains, strikes of labour, orders of Hon\u2019ble Courts, situation and conditions of working agencies\/contractors etc. All these factors vary from project to project and site to site and affect the completion time and cost of the project, which is finally worked out at the completion stage.<\/p>\n<p>This information was given by the Minister of Railways and Commerce &amp; Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a detailed update on <strong>ongoing and upcoming railway infrastructure projects in Punjab<\/strong> as of mid\u20112025, based on official sources and recent developments:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>\ud83d\udea7 1. New Railway Lines &amp; Survey Activity<\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Gurdaspur \u2194 Mukerian New Line (~30\u202fkm)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Final Location Survey approved in May 2025<\/strong>, marking the planning phase of this strategic line.<\/li>\n<li>The connection will provide a more direct route to Amritsar from Ambala\u2014saving ~50\u202fkm and avoiding reversals at Amritsar.<\/li>\n<li>The alignment also passes near <strong>Tibber Cantt.<\/strong>, boosting both strategic and civilian logistics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Rajpura \u2194 Mohali Line (~24\u202fkm)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Listed in Northern Railway\u2019s <strong>2025\u201326 budget with \u20b9203 crore allocated<\/strong> for land acquisition and construction.<\/li>\n<li>Intended to link <strong>Malwa region directly to Chandigarh<\/strong>, cutting transit time and improving access.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Mukerian\u2013Talwara Link (Extended Corridor)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Planning is in progress for a rail corridor from Mukerian towards Talwara, improving connectivity toward the Himalayan foothills, Himachal Pradesh, and tribal zones.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>\ud83d\udee4\ufe0f 2. Doubling &amp; Track Expansion<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Punjab currently has <strong>~1,158\u202fkm of rail work underway<\/strong>, with <strong>12 major projects<\/strong> progressing around the state.<\/li>\n<li>Examples include:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ludhiana\u2013Mullanpur doubling<\/strong> (~92% complete)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ludhiana\u2013Kila Raipur freight line<\/strong> (~40% completed)<\/li>\n<li>Ongoing work on <strong>stations upgrade<\/strong> &amp; track modernization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The state has achieved <strong>full track electrification<\/strong>, and annual infrastructure allocations jumped from \u20b9225\u202fcr (2009\u201314) to \u20b95,147\u202fcr in 2025\u201325.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>\ud83c\udfd7\ufe0f 3.
