Futher a new line from Harihar to Kotturu was opened in 2025 for passenger but Hospet to Kotturu was not cleared for passenger traffic. However with this connection the distance will be cut down and save travel time between Bengaluru -Hosapete – Hampi a world tourist and heritage site.

Earlier there was no direct rail connectivity between Ballari – Hospet to Harihar.
