The said Committee has further examined the proposal of fixing the codal life of LED display Boards for Passenger Information Systems, True Colour Video Cum Train Information Display System and GPS based digital clocks and their recommendations have since been accepted by Board.<\/p>\n<p>Accordingly, Advance Correction Slip No. 75 amending para 219 of Indian Railway Finance Code \u2013 Volume -1 is placed below for information and necessary action.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Accounts Appropriation, <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Finance (Budget).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reilsolar.com\/train\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2021\/12\/RBA_18_2014.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here to view the Original Circular<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<footer class=\"entry-footer\">Here\u2019s the latest information on the <strong>revised codal life of assets<\/strong> as per Indian Railways (Amendment through Advance Correction Slip No. 92):<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Overview: Revised Codal Life of Assets (ACS No. 92)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Railway Board<\/strong> issued <strong>Advance Correction Slip No. 92<\/strong>, amending <strong>Para 219<\/strong> of the <strong>Indian Railway Finance Code, Volume I (1998)<\/strong>. This revision updates the &#8220;normal life&#8221; (codal life) of various railway assets. It was based on proposals from the Electrical, Mechanical, and Signalling Directorates and vetted by a multidisciplinary Executive Director\u2019s Committee. The Board has approved the changes accordingly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Sample Asset Categories &amp; Revised Lifespans<\/h2>\n<h3>A. <strong>Electrical Assets<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Air Conditioners, Water Coolers, Refrigeration Equipment<\/strong>: ~10 years<\/li>\n<li><strong>Electrical Wiring (Internal Building)<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Coastal areas: ~15 years<\/li>\n<li>Other areas: ~20 years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Electric Pumps<\/strong>: ~20 years<\/li>\n<li><strong>OHE Conductors &amp; Components<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed structures: ~45 years<\/li>\n<li>Porcelain insulators: ~40 years<\/li>\n<li>Composite insulators: ~25 years<br \/>\n<em>(Note: Actual replacement should be condition-based)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>B. <strong>Mechanical Assets<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Machine Tools (e.g., Lathes, Milling)<\/strong>: ~20 years<\/li>\n<li><strong>Laboratory &amp; Testing Equipment<\/strong>: ~15 years<\/li>\n<li><strong>EOT Cranes<\/strong>: ~36 years<\/li>\n<li><strong>Track Maintenance Machinery (e.g., Tamping, Rail Relaying)<\/strong>: ~20 years<\/li>\n<li><strong>Material Handling Machinery<\/strong>: ~25 years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>C. <strong>Rolling Stock<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Open Bogie Wagons with Air Brakes<\/strong> (e.g., BOXN variants): ~35 years, extendable with justification<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bogie Tank Wagons (BTPN)<\/strong>: ~45 years, subject to structural audit<\/li>\n<li><strong>Other Bogie Wagons<\/strong>: ~35\u201340 years depending on type<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>D. <strong>Signalling &amp; Telecommunication<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Electronic Signalling Systems<\/strong> (e.g., Axle Counters, IPS): ~20 years<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kavach (ATP systems)<\/strong>: ~15 years<\/li>\n<li><strong>Signalling Equipment<\/strong> (e.g., relays, point machines): condition-based replacement guided by operational wear<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>What It Means<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>These codal life estimates serve as <strong>financial benchmarks<\/strong> to calculate depreciation and sinking fund contributions.<\/li>\n<li>Importantly, <strong>actual replacements<\/strong> are guided by <strong>asset condition<\/strong>, not merely the elapsed time.<\/li>\n<li>Assets <strong>not listed<\/strong> in ACS No. 92 continue to follow prior codal life guidelines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Let me know if you&#8217;d like a breakdown by specific department\u2014like Telecom assets, Civil assets, or administrative practices used for determining replacements.<\/p>\n<\/footer>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Revised Codal life of assets Sub: Revised Codal life of assets.
