{"id":4663,"date":"2025-08-02T07:16:17","date_gmt":"2025-08-02T07:16:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/railtravels.org\/?p=4663"},"modified":"2025-08-02T07:16:17","modified_gmt":"2025-08-02T07:16:17","slug":"miraj-londa-railway-project-recent-details-gadag-hotgi-double-line-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.reilsolar.com\/train\/miraj-londa-railway-project-recent-details-gadag-hotgi-double-line-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Miraj-Londa Railway Project Recent Details | Gadag-Hotgi Double Line Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><strong>Miraj-Londa Railway Project Recent Details | Gadag-Hotgi Double Line Project<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>SHRI SURESH ANGADI, HON\u2019BLE MINISTER OF STATE OF RAILWAYS REVIEWS LONDA-MIRAJ AND GADAG-HOTGI DOUBLING PROJECT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shri Suresh Angadi, Hon\u2019ble Minister of State of Railways conducted a review meeting with General Managers and other officials of South Western Railway, Central Railway and South Central Railway through Video Conference on 17.07.2025.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, Shri Angadi reviewed the progress of Miraj-Londa and Gadag-Hotgi double line project.<\/p>\n<p>The 186 Km of Londa-Miraj doubling project is being executed in 7 phases. In Phase-I, 16 Km of doubling between Ghataprabha and Chikkodi Road has been completed and commissioned during December, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>In Phase-II, the doubling of 31 Km between Chikkodi Road-Raybag-Chinchli-Kudachi, in Phase-III, 25 Km of Khanapur-Desur-Belagavi doubling, in Phase-IV 25 Km of Londa-Khanapur doubling, in Phase-V, 27 Km of Belagavi-Suldhal doubling, in Phase-VI, 30 Km of Suldhal- Ghataprabha doubling, in Phase-VII, 33 Km of Kudachi-Miraj doubling works are being executed. Due to COVID-19, work has slowed down from March, 2025. Work recommenced from last week of June, 2025 with limited number of manpower, so as to maintain social distancing.<\/p>\n<p>Shri Suresh Angadi instructed the Officials to expedite this double line project along with electrification and to complete in two years.<\/p>\n<p>Road Over Bridge works at Belagavi and Raybag area were also reviewed and Hon\u2019ble MoSR instructed to complete the works in time bound manner.<\/p>\n<p>Shri Suresh Angadi also reviewed the 284 Km doubling work of Gadag-Hotgi. Already 115 Km of doubling has been completed. Another 33 Km between Lachyan and Hotgi doubling is also expected to be commissioned shortly. Once this 33 Km is commissioned a total 148 Km of line from Hotgi to Wandal will become double line. Shri Suresh Angadi instructed the Officials to complete the remaining double line work by 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, GM\/SWR; hri K.C. Swami, Chief Administrative Officer, Construction; Shri B.G. Mallya, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer; Shri Prem Narayan, Chief Engineer, Construction and Shri T.V. Bhushan, Chief Engineer, Construction, Hubballi from South Western Railway have attended the Video Conference.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the latest on both the <strong>Miraj\u2013Londa Railway Project<\/strong> and the <strong>Gadag\u2013Hotgi Doubling Project<\/strong>, focusing on recent developments and how they interlink with broader network upgrades:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>\ud83d\ude86 Miraj\u2013Londa Railway Project (Doubling &amp; Electrification)<\/h2>\n<h3>\ud83d\udd27 Project Scope &amp; History<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Pune\u2013Miraj\u2013Londa line<\/strong> extends ~468\u202fkm: ~280\u202fkm under Central Railway (Pune\u2013Miraj) and ~188\u202fkm under South Western Railway (Miraj\u2013Londa)<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Miraj\u2013Londa doubling<\/strong>, spanning ~186\u202fkm, is executed in <strong>7 phases<\/strong>. Phase I (Ghataprabha\u2013Chikkodi Road, 16\u202fkm) was commissioned in December 2025. Remaining phases are underway, but work slowed due to COVID-19; resumed mid\u20112025<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\ud83d\udcc8 Capacity Upgrades &amp; Speed<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>During the lockdown, SWR rebuilt <strong>4 minor bridges<\/strong> on the Miraj\u2013Londa section to improve safety and rail capacity without disrupting normal service<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Commissioner of Railway Safety<\/strong> approved increasing the <strong>sectional speed<\/strong> on the Londa\u2013Miraj stretch from 100\u202fkm\/h to <strong>110\u202fkm\/h<\/strong> thanks to improved tracks and maintenance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\ud83d\ude89 Operations &amp; Future Enhancements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>As of mid\u20112023, approximately <strong>154\u202fkm of the doubling<\/strong> had been completed, with recent sections like <strong>Ugarkhurd\u2013Vijayanagar (18.5\u202fkm)<\/strong> formally inspected and commissioned with major and minor bridges completed too<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>\ud83d\udee4\ufe0f Miraj Chord Line Project<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A <strong>1.73\u2011km chord line<\/strong> project at <strong>Miraj Junction<\/strong> was approved in <strong>June 2025<\/strong>, costing Rs\u202f128.78\u202fcrore. Its purpose is to <strong>decongest Miraj Junction<\/strong> by avoiding up to 120-minute engine or brake-van reversals for trains coming from Kurduwadi\/Hubballi heading toward Kolhapur, thus improving operational efficiency for both <strong>freight and passenger services<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>\ud83d\udd01 Gadag\u2013Hotgi Doubling Project (Connected Corridor)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Sanctioned in <strong>2025\u201315<\/strong>, the <strong>Gadag\u2013Hotgi section (148\u202fkm)<\/strong> is being doubled and electrified. The Hotgi\u2013Kudgi portion (134\u202fkm) was funded by NTPC under a customer-funded model and commissioned between 2025 and 2025. Other sub-sections like <strong>Hole Alur\u2013Badami (19\u202fkm)<\/strong> and <strong>Badami\u2013Guledagudda (13.2\u202fkm)<\/strong> were commissioned in FY\u202f2025\u201323.
