Under the revised provision, full adult fare will be charged for children of age 5 years and under 12 years of age if for whom\u00a0<strong>full separate berth \/ seat<\/strong>\u00a0(in\u00a0<strong>reserved class)<\/strong>\u00a0is sought at the time of reservation. However, in case\u00a0<strong>full separate berth \/ seat<\/strong>\u00a0is not sought for the children of age 5 years and under 12 years of age at the time of reservation, then half of the adult fare shall continue to be charged subject to the minimum distance for charging.<\/p>\n<p>This revised child fare rule has been made applicable for travel from 21st April, 2025 onwards. Advance booking of reserved tickets for children under this revised rule has already started in December 2025 for journey date of 21st April, 2025 onwards.<\/p>\n<p>While filling up reservation form, the passenger can indicate their option for requirement of\u00a0<strong>full berth \/ seat for child or not.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is no change in the rule for child fare of\u00a0<strong>unreserved tickets<\/strong>\u00a0i.e.\u00a0<strong>fare for children of 5-12 years for unreserved tickets<\/strong>\u00a0shall continue to be half of the adult fare subject to the minimum distance for charging.<\/p>\n<p>Children\u00a0<strong>under five years of age<\/strong>\u00a0will continue to be carried\u00a0<strong>free (without berth)<\/strong>\u00a0in case of both reserved and unreserved classes.<\/p>\n<p>Source: PIB<\/p>\n<p>Here is a complete summary of the <strong>Child Train Ticket Rules<\/strong> as per Indian Railways:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>\ud83d\udebc <strong>Child Train Ticket Rules (Effective as of 2025\u201325)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3>\ud83d\udc76 <strong>Children Below 5 Years<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ticket Not Required<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>No Fare Charged<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>No Seat or Berth allotted<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>If you <strong>want a seat\/berth<\/strong>, you must <strong>book a full-fare ticket<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>\u2705 Example: A 4-year-old child travels free <em>if no berth is selected<\/em>.
