(Since 1996,&nbsp;Since morning, since yesterday, since last week)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I know him since 1986 \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I have know him since 1986 \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Our teacher is sick for the last two days \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Our teacher has been sick for the last two days. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 5<\/strong> :The present perfect continuous&nbsp;Tense&#8221; is also used for actions began in the past&nbsp;and are still continuing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I am reading this novel since morning. \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I have been reading this novel since morning. \u2714&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They are going to English classes for the last one month. \u2613<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They have been going to English classes for the last one month. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 6 <\/strong>: When the first action led to the&nbsp;second action immediately The simple Past Tense&nbsp;+ Simple Past Tense are used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Simple past tense+simple past tense<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When he opened the gate, they came in. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 7 : <\/strong>When the first action completed&nbsp;before the second one started, the Past Perfect&nbsp;Tense for the first finished action and the Simple&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Past Tense for the Second are used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The patient had died before the doctor arrived. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 8 <\/strong>: After negative sentences, the&nbsp;question tag used should be in an ordinary&nbsp;interrogative form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>She didn&#8217;t like that book, didn&#8217;t she? \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>She did not like that book, did she? \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They have not told him the news, Haven&#8217;t they? \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They have not told him the news, Have they? \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 9 <\/strong>: After Positive Statements, we use&nbsp;the negative interrogative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I am a student, Am I? \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I am a student, Aren&#8217;t I? \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Let&#8217;s play for some Time, Shall We? \u2714<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He works hard, Does He? \u2613<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 10<\/strong> : When the verb in the principal&nbsp;clause is in a past tense, the verbs in the&nbsp;subordinate clauses are normally in the Past&nbsp;Tense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>He said that He will pass the examination. \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He said that he would pass the examination. \u2714<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They told me that they have paid the fees. \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They told me that they had paid the fees. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 11<\/strong> : When the subordinate clause expresses a universal truth the past tense in the&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>main clause may be followed by a Present Tense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>He said that the sun rose in the East. \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He said that the sun rises in the East. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 12<\/strong> : The Past Tense in the main clause may be followed by any tense after the conjunction &#8220;Than&#8221; in the subordinate clause.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>He worked faster than we do \/ did. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 13<\/strong> : In Conditional Sentences, to&nbsp;express improbability in the Present, the Simple&nbsp;&nbsp;Past Tense in the if clause and the Present Conditional Tense in the main clause are used.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If I am the Principal, I would Punish Him. \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If I were the Principal, I would Punish Him. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If he is rich, he would buy a car. \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If he were rich, He would buy a car. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 14<\/strong> : To express unfulfilled condition in the Past, we should express with &#8220;Past Perfect&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tense&#8221; in the if clause and Perfect Conditional Tense in the Main Clause.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you worked hard, you woul asad have passed in the examination. \u2613&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you had worked hard, you would have passed in the examination. \u2714&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 15 <\/strong>: For the interrogative sentences<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>that begin with auxiliary verbs, &#8220;if or whether as<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a connective word in indirect speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>He said to me, &#8220;Are you going there?&#8221; \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He asked me if I was going there. \u2714<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He asked me that I was going there \u2714<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;Are they ready or not?&#8221; she said to me. \u2613<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>She asked me whether they were ready. \u2714<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>She asked me that they were ready or not. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 16<\/strong> : No other conjunction should beused as a connective word, in indirect speech<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>when the question indirect speech begins with &#8220;Why (or) How&#8221; question words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>He asked me that who my best friend was. \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He asked me who my best friend was. \u2714<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He asked me that How I got time to write all posts in my Blog. \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He asked me how I got time to write all posts in my Blog. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 17<\/strong> : No preposition is&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>used after the verb &#8220;told&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>He told me that he passed the examination. \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He told me that he had passed the examination. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 18 <\/strong>: The question forms in direct&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>speech should be changed to affirmative&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>sentences in indirect speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The receptionist asked me who do I want to meet in the office. \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The receptionist asked me whom I wanted to meet in&nbsp;the office. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 19<\/strong> : The verb &#8220;Suggest&#8221; purpose in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>indirect speech should be followed by &#8220;that&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>clause&#8221; with the auxiliary verb &#8220;should&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>He suggested me to go for a walk every morning. \u2613<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He suggested to me that I should go for a walk every morning. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 20<\/strong> : In the absence of an indirect&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>object after &#8220;suggest&#8221; a gerund form is used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>He suggested going for a walk every morning. \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 21 : <\/strong>The verb &#8220;Tell&#8221;
