The indefinite article &#8220;A or&nbsp;An&#8221; Should not be used with them. They have no&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>plural forms. &#8216;A\/An&#8217; not used before them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example<\/strong> : Luggage \/ Baggage \/ Breakage \/ Advice \/&nbsp;Furniture \/ Information \/ Scenery \/ Poetry \/&nbsp;Work \/ Soap \/ Food \/ Bread \/ Fish \/ Paper \/&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Machinery etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1) The Sceneries of Himachal is very beautiful. \u2613<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1)The Scenery of&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Himachal is very beautiful. \u2714<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) I know that he has many informations. \u2613<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) I know that he has much information \/ a lot of information. \u2714<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3) They gave me a good advice. \u2613<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3) The gave me a piece of good advice. \u2714<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4) I want a Soap\/Bread. \u2613<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5) I want a piece of Soap\/Bread. \u2714<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 2 <\/strong>: The words such as &#8220;News \/&nbsp;Maths \/ Ethics \/ Politics \/ Phonetics \/ Economics&nbsp;\/ Statistics \/ Measles \/ Mumps \/ Rickets \/&nbsp;Billiards \/ Innings&#8221; look like plural nouns but give singular meaning. All these are&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>used with plural form of verbs.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The police is coming towards us now. \u2613<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The police are coming towards us now. \u2714<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scissor is very sharp. \u2613<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scissors are very sharp. \u2714<br><br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 5<\/strong> : Add &#8216;S&#8217; to the main word in&nbsp;compound noun to make it plural.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sister-in-Law<\/strong>, the plural form is Sisters-in-Law, not Sister-in-Laws<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Brother-in- Law<\/strong>, the plural form is Brothers-in-law, not Brothers-in- Laws<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 6<\/strong> : The possessive case of a&nbsp;compound noun is formed by adding &#8216;S&#8217; to the last&nbsp;word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Father-in-Law, Father-in-Law&#8217;s property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sister-in-Law, Sister-in-Law&#8217;s property.<br><br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 7<\/strong> : After the phrases One of \/ Some&nbsp;of\/ Each of \/ Either of \/Neither of \/ Any of \/ None&nbsp;of, a plural form of a noun is used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One of my best friends (not One of my best friend)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One of the biggest cities (not One of the biggest city)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each of the boys is (not Each of the boys are)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Either of the teachers is (not Either of the teachers are)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 8 : <\/strong>Nouns indicating numerals should&nbsp;be used in singular form &#8220;<strong>A Dozen eggs \/ Two&nbsp;Dozen Oranges&#8221;.<\/strong> But say Hundreds of eggs \/ Houses \/ A hundred rupees \/ Two hundred&nbsp;rupees.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 9 : <\/strong>After collective nouns either a&nbsp;singular or plural form of verb is used.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The team is strong (here, we are treating the TEAM as an UNIT) \u2714<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The team are fighting among themselves (Here, we are saying about the players of the team) \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 10 : <\/strong>An &#8220;Apostrophe&#8221; and &#8216;S&#8217; should&nbsp;be used with living beings only to show&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>possesion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The table&#8217;s legs were broken. \u2613<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(This is wrong, because the table is a non living&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thing)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We can say &#8220;The legs of the table were broken&#8221; \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 11 :<\/strong> Say, &#8220;A five rupee note&#8221;, &#8221; A two&nbsp;mile walk&#8221;<br><br><br><br><br><strong>Shortcut Rule 12<\/strong> : Don&#8217;t say &#8220;family members \/&nbsp;cousin brother or cousin sister&#8221; but say &#8220;The&nbsp;members of the family \/ he or she is my cousin&#8221;.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shortcut Rule 13<\/strong> : When two nouns are connected&nbsp;by &#8220;and&#8221;, and are closely related, add an&nbsp;apostrophe and S to the last noun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Kareena&#8217;s and Saif&#8217;s house \u2613 (if you think they are wife and husband then this sentence is wrong)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Kareena and Saif&#8217;s house (as they live in a SINGLE house) \u2714<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>But you can say &#8220;India&#8217;s and Pakistan&#8217;s population&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2714<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Noun Shortcut rules&nbsp; \u0938\u0902\u091c\u094d\u091e\u093e \u0936\u0949\u0930\u094d\u091f\u0915\u091f \u0928\u093f\u092f\u092e Shortcut Rule 1 : The following words are&nbsp;uncountable and are normally used in the&nbsp;singular form only.
