Till now, it is the biggest bet thus far by a major carrier on a travel industry recovery from COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>The US carrier plans to acquire 270 new planes consisting of<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.boeing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"www.boeing.com\">\u00a0200 Boeing aircraft\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.airbus.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"www.airbus.com\"><strong>70 Airbus jets<\/strong>.<\/a>\u00a0<strong>The order would be valued at $35.4 billion based on the listed price of the jets. We are all aware how it is spreading rapidly in many parts of the world, during the hour-long conference call.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7380\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reilsolar.com\/electronics\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/images-1-6.png\" alt=\"\" data-pin-no-hover=\"true\" \/><figcaption>The airline holds the largest markets in the United States. |\u00a0<strong>@www.reilsolar.com\/electronics\/<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>But the announcement illustrates broad confidence in the industry\u2019s prospects even as the pandemic evolves.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Narrow-body aims<\/h2>\n<p>The biggest component of the order will be 150 of Boeing\u2019s new 737 MAX 10, which is still undergoing tests in a process closely monitored by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.faa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"www.faa.gov\">US regulators<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover has-background-dim\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-white-color\"><sub>The announcement is a victory for\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boeing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"www.boeing.com\">Boeing\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0jet, which was grounded for 20 months following two deadly crashes.<\/sub><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"is-style-cnvs-paragraph-callout\">The other two components are 50 Boeing 737 MAX 8 and 70 Airbus A321neo.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All three models are narrow-body jets, making them well-suited for domestic and shorter-distance trips.<\/li>\n<li>And, these have been among the first to see passenger numbers recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7390\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reilsolar.com\/electronics\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/images-1-20-edited.jpeg\" alt=\"\" data-pin-no-hover=\"true\" \/><figcaption>The aircraft they have really are so beautiful! And, the new fleet shall be extraordinary!\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">Both the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.airbus.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"www.airbus.com\">Airbus<\/a> model and the next-generation 737 MAX are bigger than earlier versions of the same aircraft, a feature especially beneficial for increasing capacity in <strong>New York, San Francisco <\/strong>and other markets where adding more flights is difficult or impossible, United officials said affirmatively.<\/pre>\n<h2>Travel booking and passengers resumption<\/h2>\n<p>United officials made clear during the conference call that they have seen very recent signs of an acceleration in business travel bookings, with firms eager to resume client visits as they see their competitors returning to the skies.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse is-style-cnvs-paragraph-callout\">Executives also said they were bullish about international travel, speaking of the summer of 2023 as being a <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">\"record breaker\"<\/span>. It is as the US consumers make up for lost opportunities during the pandemic to visit Europe and Asia.<\/pre>\n<p>The new planes will include enhanced in-flight entertainment options aiming to delight consumers with access to games and thousands of shows and movies.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"is-style-cnvs-list-styled-positive\">\n<li><strong><em>In another step to please consumers, the company plans to upgrade its existing fleet of narrow-body planes to add more compartment space for luggage.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What do the aviation experts feeel about the mega-expensive decision?<\/h2>\n<p>Richard Aboulafia, an aviation expert at Teal Group, said purchases of the A321 and the 737 MAX \u2014 both single-aisle planes \u2014 make sense for the airline in the current market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"is-style-cnvs-paragraph-callout has-luminous-vivid-amber-background-color has-background\">\u201cThe domestic markets are coming back pretty fast and fuel prices are coming back fast too,\u201d Aboulafia said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\">\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.united.com\/en\/gb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.united.com\/en\/gb\">Airlines<\/a>\u00a0must make long-term bets to remain competitive, even if current market conditions still present significant problems, Aboulafia said.\u00a0<strong>He also added that current low interest rates also encourage making purchases now.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Scott Hamilton of Leeham News, an aviation website, said\u00a0<strong>he was surprised at the size of the order.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7388\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reilsolar.com\/electronics\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/images-10-6-edited.jpeg\" alt=\"\" data-pin-no-hover=\"true\" \/><figcaption>Image Credits: the company logo.
